Bright New Day Coaster Pattern
Start by chaining 4, and then slip stitch into the first chain to join and create a ring.
Round 1: Chain 3 (this counts as a double crochet now and for the remainder of the pattern), and work 11 double crochets into the ring. Slip stitch into the top of the initial chain 3 to join. This will give you a total of 12 stitches.
Round 2: Chain 3, then work 1 double crochet in the same stitch. From there, work 2 double crochets in each stitch around. Slip stitch into the top of your starting chain 3 to join. You should have 24 stitches by the end of this round.
Round 3: Chain 3, then work 2 double crochets in the same stitch. Chain 1 and skip the next stitch. Now, work 3 double crochets in the next stitch followed by a chain 1 and skipping the next stitch. Repeat this sequence around until you reach the last stitch. For the last stitch, chain 1, skip that stitch, and slip stitch into the top of the initial chain 3 to join. This should give you a total of 48 stitches.
Round 4: Chain 3, and work 1 double crochet in the next stitch. Continue working 1 double crochet in each stitch and each chain 1 space around. Slip stitch into the top of the initial chain 3 to complete this round, and you will again have 48 stitches.
