As the weather begins to warm, it is the ideal time to create this flower pillow. For anyone looking to engage in some warm-weather crochet projects, this pattern is perfect for you to explore and enjoy.

Materials Needed:

  • 2 skeins of Bernat Blanket #6 Super Bulky yarn (220 yards). I chose the colors Sunsoaked and Vintage White for a lovely contrast. Bernat Blanket yarn is my go-to choice for this pillow due to its soft texture and the perfect amount of floppiness that gives the petals a beautiful look.
  • US size L 8.0 mm crochet hook
  • Stitch marker to keep track of your rounds.
  • Scissors for cutting your yarn.
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

Approximate Size: 17 inches

Pattern Notes:

  • The chain 1 at the beginning of rounds does not count as a stitch.
  • For the first twelve rounds, we will work in continuous rounds. I will indicate in the pattern when it is necessary to join at the end of your rounds.
  • When the pattern states 2 dc, it means to work two double crochets in the same stitch.
  • When you see 2 sc in the instructions, this denotes working two single crochets in the same stitch.
  • Photographs for the tutorial may not represent the actual size of the finished pillow and are only for demonstration purposes.

Abbreviations (US):

ch – chain
st(s) – stitch(es)
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
inc – increase (work two stitches in the same stitch)

Crochet Flower Pillow 2 Pillows

Flower Pillow Crochet Pattern

We will begin our project by making the center of the flower. Make two of these pieces to create the blossom.

To start, chain 2 using your first color of yarn.

Round 1: Work 6 single crochets into the second chain from the hook. (You should now have 6 stitches.)

Don’t forget to place your stitch marker in the first stitch of each round. This will greatly help you keep track of when a new round begins.

Round 2: Increase by working two single crochets into each stitch all the way around. (You will have 12 stitches at the end of this round.)

Round 3: Begin with an increase, then single crochet in the next stitch. Repeat this pattern all the way around. (You will have 18 stitches here.)

Round 4: This time, work an increase followed by a single crochet in the next two stitches, repeating all the way around. (Now you will have 24 stitches.)

Round 5: Increase, then single crochet in the next three stitches, repeating around. (You will end this round with 30 stitches.)

Round 6: Follow the same pattern, increasing, and then doing a single crochet in the next four stitches until you reach the end. (This will yield 36 stitches.)

Round 7: Increase, followed by single crochet in the next five stitches, repeating until the end. (You should finish with 42 stitches.)

Round 8: Continue by increasing, then single crochet in the next six stitches, with this pattern repeating throughout the round. (You will have 48 stitches now.)

Round 9: Repeat the same procedure, with an increase and single crochet in the next seven stitches. (This will give you 54 stitches.)

Round 10: Keep going by increasing, then single crocheting in the next eight stitches around. (You will end up with 60 stitches.)

Round 11: Increase, followed by single crochet in the next nine stitches. Keep repeating this until you complete the round. (This round will end with 66 stitches.)

Round 12: For this final round, work an increase, then single crochet in the next ten stitches as you did in the previous rounds. (You will conclude with 72 stitches.)

Now, take the two pieces and place them on top of each other with the wrong sides facing. We are going to crochet the pieces together using your second color for the petals.

Attach the yarn from your second color to both pieces, chain 1, and work a single crochet in the same stitch. Continue by working one single crochet in each stitch around. Make sure to start stuffing your pillow after approximately 50 stitches and continue adding stuffing as you proceed. Join with a slip stitch to the first stitch of the next round. (You will still have 72 stitches.)

Create the Petals 🌼

Note 1: As you start rounds one through three, place your first stitch in the stitch immediately following the chain 1 (refer to the image below).

Note 2: Take your time while working on the petals. As they begin to overlap, it can be easy to miss a stitch if you hurry.

Round 1: Chain 1, then work a single crochet, followed by two double crochets, then another two double crochets, and finish with a single crochet. Repeat this pattern around the entire piece. Slip stitch into the first stitch to finish the round. (At the end of this round, you will have 108 stitches.)

To help keep track, you may want to place a stitch marker in the first stitch of each round.

Round 2: After chaining 1, follow with a single crochet, then a half double crochet, two double crochets, and two more double crochets, finishing with a half double crochet and a single crochet. Repeat this pattern around. Finally, slip stitch into the first stitch at the end of the round. (You will have 144 stitches upon completion.)

Round 3: Chain 1, and then work a slip stitch, followed by two single crochets, an increase of two single crochets, chain 2, work two more single crochets, followed by three single crochets, and finish with a slip stitch. Continue repeating this pattern all the way around. Slip stitch into the chain 1 to close the round. After you finish, fasten off and weave in any remaining ends. (You will finish this round with 216 stitches.)
