For this project, I selected Lion Brand Landscapes yarn due to its incredible softness and the way the variegated colors blend beautifully with the stitch pattern. However, feel free to use your favorite worsted weight yarn for your blanket, making this design versatile for your preferred materials.
Blooming Hues Blanket Sizing Information
The Blooming Hues blanket pattern is available in two different sizes: 37 inches by 50 inches, which is great for a lapghan, and 48 inches by 60 inches, perfect for a throw. If you need to adjust the size to better suit your needs, simply remember to chain in multiples of 4, plus 2 additional stitches. Then, you can follow the pattern until your blanket reaches your desired dimensions.
To assist you in selecting the right size for your blanket, I have included a helpful blanket sizing guide below.
Blanket Sizing Guide
- Baby Blanket: 36 x 36 inches
- Toddler Blanket: 40 x 60 inches
- Lapghan: 36 x 48 inches
- Throw Blanket: 48 x 60 inches
- Twin Bed: 65 x 90 inches
- Double Bed: 84 x 90 inches

Materials Needed:
- Lion Brand Landscapes yarn, which is #4 worsted weight, in the color Boardwalk. You will need about 11 skeins for the lapghan size and 18 skeins for the throw size.
- A US size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook.
- Stitch markers (optional).
- Scissors.
- A tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
Sizes (Approximate): 36 inches by 48 inches for the lapghan size and 48 inches by 60 inches for the throw size.
Make sure to follow the size key in the pattern according to the blanket size you are crocheting: (Lapghan or Throw)
Gauge (4 in x 4 in): It should be approximately 4 clusters (single crochet, chain, double crochet) and 7 rows.
Size Adjustment: If you need to adjust the blanket’s width, simply start your chain longer or shorter. The pattern specifies a chain multiple of 4 plus 2 stitches. For instance, if you decide to chain 16, add 2 stitches for a total of 18. Just keep in mind your yarn requirements as you alter the blanket’s size.

Important Pattern Notes:
- The initial chain of 1 does not count as a stitch in this pattern.
- If you find it challenging to identify the first or last stitch of each row, stitch markers can be very helpful in keeping track.
Common Abbreviations (US):
ch – chain
st(s) – stitch(es)
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
hdc – half double crochet

Blooming Hues Crochet Blanket Pattern
To begin, create a chain of (114, 146).
Row 1: Starting from the second chain from the hook, make 1 single crochet. Continue to place 1 single crochet in each chain across the row. Chain 1 and turn your work. (You will have 113 stitches for the lapghan size or 145 stitches for the throw size.)
Row 2: In the first stitch, work (1 single crochet, chain 3, 3 double crochet) all in the same stitch. Skip the next 3 stitches. *In the 4th stitch, work (1 single crochet, chain 3, 3 double crochet) in the same stitch. Skip the next 3 stitches.* Repeat from * to * until 4 stitches remain, then place 1 single crochet in the final stitch. Chain 1 and turn.
Row 3: In the first stitch, again work (1 single crochet, chain 3, 3 double crochet) all in the same stitch. *In the next chain space, work (1 single crochet, chain 3, 3 double crochet) all in that space.* Continue repeating this until reaching the last chain space where you will finish with 1 single crochet. Chain 1 and turn your work.

Continue to repeat row 3 until your blanket reaches either 50 inches or 60 inches, or until it meets your desired length. When you have achieved the length you want, do not fasten off just yet. We will finish off the blanket with a straight edge.
Finishing Off the Blanket with a Straight Edge:
To complete your blanket, after your final row, chain 1 and turn your work. In the first stitch, work (1 single crochet, chain 2, 3 double crochet) all in that same stitch. *In the next chain space, work (1 single crochet, 1 half double crochet, 1 double crochet) all in the same chain space.* Continue repeating this until you reach the last chain space where you will finish with 1 single crochet. Finally, fasten off and weave in any loose ends.
